​​I’ve always been fascinated by the ornamentation of lace and how its patterns create a delicate yet bold presence on the body. The lines and details are as fine as gossamer, but when zoomed out, they display strong imagery and solid compositions. I relate aging floral tattoos to wearing lace patterning — as tattoos age, they soften, but the imagery remains, without the heaviness of traditional ornamental tattoos. Where some people may see the aging tattoos as a loss, I want that process to be part of the tattoo design.

Although I’m not the first tattoo artist to tattoo lace, I’m very interested in creating my own interpretations of it. Many of these designs will be rendered in grey washes and textures rather than just in solid black and hard lines.​​​
